A manufacturing plant in South Korea

Edwards, part of the Atlas Copco Group, is building a new manufacturing facility for vacuum and reduction systems used in the global semiconductor manufacturing industry. The new semiconductor manufacturing facility will be located in Asan City, located in South Korea’s Chungcheongnam-do province.

15,000 meters² Manufacturing facilities in South Korea, including a new facility opened in June to manufacture dry vacuum pumps for the semiconductor industry. It will join Edwards’ existing facilities in Cheonan.

“This new investment demonstrates our continued commitment to supporting our customers in the semiconductor industry in Korea and beyond with future innovation and growth.” said Business Area President Geert Follens of Vacuum Technique.

The investment is critical to increasing the supply chain capacity needed to support growth in the global semiconductor industry.

Construction of the new Asan City plant has recently begun and should be completed by the end of July 2023, with the plant expected to be fully operational by Q3 2023.

This new site in Asan City will increase capacity for both the CSK and Edwards brands, and will increase fluid delivery systems as well as integrated vacuum and melt systems used in the production of the most advanced semiconductor components.
