A world leader in underwater acoustic and ultrasound technologies has won gold at an award ceremony in the field of manufacturing.

Precision Acoustics was joint winner of the Innovation Award at Make UK’s southern regional lunch.

The Dorchester-based company manufactures acoustic measurement products for the medical and NDT (non-destructive testing) industries.

It has been praised for its ability to solve complex problems and speed of introduction of new products to the market.

Judges: “Precision Acoustics is a great example of innovation.

“The company clearly knows its market and, as a leader in its field, has continued to develop solutions to meet the needs of customers.

“Even while operating in a difficult economic environment, this organization’s product development is already generating commercial success.

“Innovation is really at the heart of everything they do.”

The award was presented at a ceremony in Bristol organized by Make UK and sponsored by law firm Bevan Brittan.

The achievements of manufacturing companies in the South were noted.

The winners, including Precision Acoustics, will now go on to the national finals in London in January.
