To meet the festival rush, the Central Railway runs 258 special trains. These 258 special trains for Puja, Diwali and Chhath festival are the highest ever run by Central Railway till date. These festival trains meet the heavy holiday rush (both outbound and inbound) and will run until the end of November 2022.
Apart from regular trains, Central Railway has arranged 258 special trains for Puja, Diwali and Chhath puja to clear extra rush of passengers. This excludes 16 festival special trains run by other railways between Jaynagar and Mumbai; Nanded and Pune & Chhapra and Panvel. Central Railway has scheduled festival special trains to various destinations like Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Malda city, Ballia, Danapur, Patliputra, Madgaon, Nagpur, etc.
Of these 258 special trains, 103 trains have already run and transported the passengers to their destinations, and the remaining 155 will serve the passengers’ needs until the end of November. Among these, 14 festival specials run as completely unreserved.
The Central Railway, to control the crowd at the stations, deployed security personnel for round-the-clock monitoring and to help passengers board the train comfortably. Additional officers and staff have been deployed to monitor crowd management and to assist passengers with information through the help desk. Central Railway has disseminated details about the operation of festival train information thoroughly in print, electronic and social media. In this festive season, Central Railway also appealed and urged passengers not to pull unnecessary alarm chain, which has a pervasive effect in train running.
