New Delhi [India]Oct 4 (ANI/GPRC): Chakr Innovation has become the first company in India to receive a Type Approval Certificate from the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB’S) proposed laboratory for Retrofit of Emission Control Device (Recd) on diesel generators.

As part of the key priorities outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “We need to move away from the common belief that air pollution is only caused by industries, but factors such as transport, dirty fuels and diesel generators contribute to air pollution. the same and equally harmful’. Therefore, India needs to develop a holistic approach and enable it to formulate a specific program that can take up the challenges involved and work out a solution.

The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change launched the National Clean Air Program (NCAP) in December 2018 to develop several time-bound strategies with a long-term perspective. The goal of the program was to reduce PM2.5 pollution by almost 20% to 30% by the end of 2024. It specifically recognized that DG aggregates contribute to 18-20% of the total air pollution in cities and the action plan. should be prepared.

The implementation of the program was then taken up by the National Green Tribunal, which fully agreed with the harmful effects of particulate matter emissions due to DG sets and thus directed the CPCB to take a systematic and consistent decision in the form of policy formulation. and providing certification grounds.

While the CPCB was drafting the guidelines, a group of IIT graduates formulated a new product called Chakr Shield, a Retrofit Emission Control Device (RECD) that helps reduce particulate matter (PM) above 75 percent of DG prescribed emissions. . Chakr RECD is the first and only technology certified by one of the CPCB-recommended laboratories in India. The technology reduces PM 2.5, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide levels by more than 70 percent, and it also does not adversely affect DG sets.

Speaking about the concept from a thought leadership perspective, Akshay Pant, CIO, Neev Foundation said, “Chakr Innovation is a true leader, especially in terms of product category development in India. As a new and first-of-its-kind technology, Chakr Shield DG is a patented technology that has a back pressure within acceptable limits set by the OEM. The product comes with a long service life (8-10 years) with a modular design that requires minimal space.

Also, the product is ICAT (CPCB Accredited Laboratory) approved for performance while requiring very little additional energy in maintenance. Not only is the product compliant with accelerated depreciation of the Government of India, but the certification has also enabled DG kits to be launched in Delhi NCR amid the CAQM ban.

The proprietary device has been installed in more than 1000 locations across India and for organizations like Tata, Amazon, Taj, ITC group along with various government organizations and defense forces.
