The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has now fined online trading platform Amazon for selling knives at a higher price.
The forum ordered Amazon to pay Rs 10,000 as compensation to the complainant.
The complainant approached the Forum claiming that he bought a knife for Rs 215 after getting a 45 percent discount when the actual price listed was Rs 410. The complainant said that the knife cost only Rs 191.96 including tax.
The agency found that Amazon violated the Consumer Protection Act and provided false advertising.
It said the online platform violated the Act’s requirement to pay compensation for unfair commercial practices.
VS Manu Lal, R Bindu and KM Anto of the Assembly ordered the online platform to refund the consumers the excess amount of Rs 23.04 with nine percent interest besides compensation.
