The 64th World Chess Composition Congress concluded on November 17 at the election session of the WFCC Presidium. There were two candidates for the presidency of the WFCC – Marjan Kovacevic (Serbia) and Thomas Maeder (Switzerland).

Marjan Kovacevic became the new president of WFCC with 13 votes against 9 votes. Mr. Kovacevic has been FIDE Composition Grandmaster since 2007 and Decision Grandmaster since 1988. In previous years, he served as the vice president of the WFCC.

The election of vice-presidents took place immediately, and four candidates competed for three seats. By voting, Abdullah Ali Hassan Aal Barket Alameri (UAE) became the first vice-president, Vidmantas Satkus (Lithuania) the second vice-president, and Dinu-Ioan Nikula (Romania) the third vice-president.

The program will continue with the WFCC closing session and closing ceremony, followed by the international blitz tournament on November 19. More than 270 players have already registered there, including GM Salem Saleh, GM Pavel Elzhanov and others. The total prize fund for all events is €40,000.
