Virginia Tech faculty were honored last week for their efforts to impact the community, region and world through research, innovation and creativity. Outstanding achievements in achieving and expanding Virginia Tech’s achievements over the past fiscal year have been recognized by university administration and colleagues.
“We had a record year in research spending and awards in 2022 – all thanks to the hard work of our dedicated and talented faculty,” said Dan Sui, senior vice president for research and innovation at Virginia Tech, welcoming Virginia Tech’s leading researchers to the event. . “Through research institutes, research development efforts, and overall improved infrastructure, our faculty is pursuing major awards, increased awards, and collaborative team projects as well as center-type projects.”
Researchers honored at the event received the largest university-sponsored research awards in fiscal year 2022, with expected awards ranging from $2.75 million to $17 million from agencies such as the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Energy, the U.S. International Ministry of Development and Defense. The event also recognized faculty members who completed major offers in 2022, with requests ranging from $10 million to $100 million.
