Foster Farms recalls Costco chicken after consumer complaints | So Good News

Foster Farms of Farmerville, LA, is recalling 148,000 pounds of frozen chicken breasts that may contain clear plastic.

There are concerns that consumers may end up with the drug in their home refrigerators because of its long shelf life. The best day for chicken dinners is Aug. 11, 2023.

The frozen chicken was made on Aug. 11 and shipped to Costco distribution centers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah, and Washington. They may have also been distributed at Costco stores, according to a recall notice sent by the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The following should be kept in mind:

• An 80-ounce plastic package containing 20 pieces of “CHICKEN PATTIES BREADED CHICKEN BREAST PATTIES AND BEEF RIBS” with a best-by date of “08/11/23,” serial number “P-33901,” and code “3*2223” ** ” in inkjet printing on the back of the package and “7527899724” under the barcode.

The problem came to light when the company notified FSIS that it had received consumer complaints alleging that clear plastic was embedded in prepackaged, frozen, pre-cooked and pre-cooked chicken meals as of Aug. 11, 2023.

There have been no confirmed reports of injuries related to consumption of the product, but FSIS believes that the hard plastic pieces may be sharp and may cause injury. Anyone affected by an injury or illness should contact a medical professional.

Consumers who have purchased these products are advised not to consume them and sellers are advised not to sell them. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
