Google on Friday announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Karnataka government to support its vision to promote innovation and encourage the growth of startups in the state.

“Over the years, Google has made efforts to support budding startups and nurture India’s burgeoning startup ecosystem with the Google for Startup Accelerator program. Since 2015, the program has accelerated 116 startups and mentored over 1,500 startups in six batches across India. “To date, mentored startups have raised more than $2 billion and created more than 12,000 jobs,” the company added.

In June this year, Google also launched the Google for Startups Accelerator – India Women Founders, designed to help women founders tackle challenges specific to their experience, including fundraising, hiring and many more. This was followed by the launch of Startup School India in July 2022, which aims to nurture 10,000 startups in tier 2 and 3 cities.
