Greece topped the rest of the European Union in terms of the share of businesses reporting some kind of innovative activity between 2018 and 2020, with 73%, according to a graph published by Eurostat on Friday.
Development and Investments Minister Adonis Georgiadis, who posted the graph on social media, spoke of “Greece’s new important first place in the EU” and praised Vice Minister Christos Dimas for the high percentage of Greek businesses investing in innovation at the time.
Dimash also posted a similar message, noting that “according to Eurostat, Greece had the highest percentage of businesses investing in innovation between 2018 and 2020 (73%).
According to a Eurostat tweet, the EU average for innovation activity was 53%, with Greece in first place, followed by Belgium (71%), Germany and Finland (69%).
The bottom countries were Romania (11%), Latvia (32%), Hungary and Spain (33%).
