India’s rank in Global Innovation Index has improved: President Murmu | So Good News

India’s ranking on the Global Innovation Index has risen from 81 to 40, President Draupadi Murmu said on Tuesday.

He was speaking after launching ‘herSTART’, a platform for women entrepreneurs set up by Gujarat University.

“I have information that there are more than 450 startups at this university. More than 125 of them are managed by women,” said Mrs. Murmu.

“I am proud to open the HerSTART platform. “This will be a bridge for newly opened entrepreneurs with state programs and private funds,” he said.

Ms. Murmu began her two-day visit to Gujarat on Monday.

“In the recent Global Innovation Index 2022, India, which was earlier ranked 81st, has moved up to 40th,” he said, further stressing the importance of startups.

Startups also help create new jobs, he added.

India was ranked 81st in the 2015 Global Innovation Index. In the latest ranking, his rank rose to 40th place.

The President also praised Gujarat and said that it has developed significantly in the last two decades.

“The state has its own development model. Other countries also have their own development models. I believe that India will be seen as a developed country in this ‘amritkal’ (from 75 years of independence to 100 years of independence), he said.

Many successful people including Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, former ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Kasthurirangan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were former students of Gujarat University, the President noted.

Ms. Murmu on Tuesday also inaugurated or laid the foundation stones of various projects related to education and tribal development, which include Sainik School, tribal hostels and schools in remote areas of the state.
