JR Automation opens large manufacturing facility in Lake Orion. | So Good News
JR Automation, a global systems integrator based in Holland and a subsidiary of Hitachi, has opened a newly constructed, 227,500-square-foot facility in Lake Orion that will be the company’s flagship location in the Detroit area.
This plant is Pontiac; Both Shelby Township and Sterling Heights will consolidate previously leased facilities and take on large-scale automation projects. Located at 1427 Brown Road, JR Automation’s newest location is just a half-mile east of its current location at 1,000 Brown Road; It will expand its machine shop capabilities and focus on smaller track automation projects.
“This new facility validates our investment and commitment to this community with significant manufacturing volume and the ability to do more work,” said Brian Rogus, vice president of JR Automation’s esys division. “Consolidating our teams and working within two blocks will allow us to be more efficient and reduce our overall time and travel costs.”
JB Donaldson and Orion Township played a key role in supporting the development to keep the project on schedule despite the challenges of the pandemic, supply chain and labor shortages.
“The construction of this building is quite big. We have the largest factory footprint that JR Automation has ever built,” said Lucy Ballesteros, According to Lucy Ballesteros, building specialist at EHS and JR Automation. “We truly appreciate the support we have received from our partners, including Orion Township and JB Donaldson.”
