The lecturer contributes to the planning and delivery of high-quality research and/or assessment work under regular general supervision and to the planning and delivery of undergraduate and/or postgraduate topics/course sets in innovative management in the College’s business discipline. Business, government and law. This includes developing learning materials, delivering lectures/textbooks or other innovative teaching and learning strategies, exams and employment education.

The incumbent contributes to the strengthening of public-private sector relationships and participates in multidisciplinary teams engaged in industrial, economic and workforce research in response to major changes.

The incumbent will work within the College’s research centers and institutes to establish partnerships or explore new partnerships with external stakeholders that have the potential to deliver improved teaching, learning and/or research outcomes for the University. The teacher will have good knowledge and use of innovation (radical and incremental), creative thinking and problem solving.

Prioritizes, coordinates, monitors work progress and provides informal daily feedback to research support staff and casual academic faculty in accordance with University policies, practices and standards.

Duties of the main position:

The teacher is responsible for:

  • To promote high-level teaching and research consistent with the College’s mission, research centers, and institute.
  • Has the ability to contribute to and/or evaluate the planning, delivery, and evaluation of lectures, textbooks, laboratory materials, or other teaching strategies, including coordination of courses and topics, primarily in undergraduate and/or graduate subject areas
  • To provide inspiring and innovative teaching based in ways that enhance the student experience and support students with academic and/or other challenges that hinder their academic progress.
  • Building effective research collaborations between the Australian Institute for Industrial Transformation and business disciplines.
  • Engage in and contribute to ethical, high-quality, and innovative research and evaluation through activities such as scholarship, quality publication, obtaining external grants, and presentations that are consistent with the college’s research strength and focus areas and contribute to the oversight of student research programs.
  • Active participation in internal and external quality assurance and accreditation processes of the College.
  • Actively participate in high-performing multidisciplinary teams focused on education and research and contribute to the development of a respectful, trusting and collaborative work environment.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships and networks with a range of public and private sector stakeholders, such as the advanced manufacturing sector and Government, including industry and professional associations and organisations.
  • Actively contribute to the integration and management of aspects of the academic and administrative life of the College.
  • Some out-of-hours work (including weekends) as well as rural SA, interstate and overseas travel may be required.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the position level as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University.

Key position features

  • Pursuing a PhD in business that addresses aspects of innovation management.
  • Good experience at higher education level, including subject coordination, course coordination and curriculum design responsibilities, and evidence of successful relevant innovative teaching practices.
  • Demonstrated experience and successful track record in supervising graduate students to graduate degrees.
  • Demonstrated deep engagement with Innovation Management with evidence of a strong research track record (for career stage) in a field consistent with research strengths in Innovation Management, including high-quality publications and external competitive grant funding.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the relationship between teaching and learning, research and research. Ability to provide educational leadership in curriculum review and internal and external accreditation activities.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with staff, students and industry on a national and/or international level.
  • Demonstrated experience and innovation in the use of e-learning platforms for teaching purposes with excellent teaching evaluations.
  • A strong working knowledge of the Public Sector has been demonstrated in studies addressing various aspects of innovation management.
  • Evidence for student success, including the development and implementation of initiatives to improve retention and facilitate employability.
  • Demonstrated effective intercultural communication skills, including the ability to communicate with and/or teach international students.
