LLANGOLLEN Railway has denied any speculation that its Santa Specials are at risk of cancellation in December due to a lack of volunteers.

Santa Specials return on Friday the 3rd. December and takes guests on a festive excursion from Llangollen to Lapland.

Ahead of the highly anticipated Christmas events, Llangollen Railway Trust chief executive Tom Taylor quickly put to bed any suggestions the specials were at risk: “Llangollen Railway would like to make it very clear that there is no threat to our Santa Specials being able to accommodate . place.

“All our services are now fully booked and Santa, along with our dedicated team of staff and volunteers are all looking forward to welcoming our visitors to Lapland next month.

“Christmas at Llangollen Railway has certainly not been canceled and looks set to be a very special Christmas for us after a busy and successful season.

“However, we are always looking for new volunteers to help and Santa season is always busy where extra people can help take some of the burden off our existing dedicated team of volunteers.”

Taking place on selected dates throughout December, the ever-popular event will see decorated trains travel through the Dee Valley, transporting families to stunning Lapland.

  • December 22
  • 23 December
  • December 24

Llangollen Railway are always looking for help from volunteers (also known as elves!) to help out on as many or as few days as they can, which will be a great opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit while helping out in the community.

The Santa Specials return on the back of what was a very successful 2022 operating season for the railway, which saw ridership well above budget, with 190 of 192 scheduled running days so far this year.
