London North Eastern Railway makes a special gesture to those who have served | So Good News

Ahead of Remembrance Day, LNER has revealed a special Azuma train decorated with a dedicated poppy design

London North Eastern Railway is proud to unveil its Azuma, which is now decorated with a poppy design and features text that reads ‘To those who have served, thank you’. The design has been added to both sides of the cab at the front and rear of the train.

The anniversary design can be seen throughout November when the train runs on the east coast.

The rail operator will also support The Veterans Charity’s Route of Remembrance campaign once again this year with the aim of moving a large number of memorial wreaths across the country by train.

Working with charities, the rail operator will provide journeys for veterans wearing poppy wreaths on November 11 on the 05.48 London North Eastern Railway from Edinburgh Waverley.

Additional volunteers will join the train in Newcastle, Durham, Darlington and York. The journey will culminate with the wreath-bearers arriving in London before 11am to place their wreaths as part of the commemoration ceremony at London King’s Cross station.
