Mirror, Mirror, Wall: Has Healthcare Become a Consumer Industry? – #HITSm Chat Topic | So Good News

[ad_1]

We’re excited to share the topic and questions for this month’s #HITsm chat happening Friday, 12/2 at Noon ET (9 AM PT). This month’s chat will be hosted by Erica Olenski Johansen (@thegr8chalupa) on the topic Mirror, Mirror, Wall: Has Healthcare Become a Consumer Industry?

It seems like every day there is an announcement from a consumer front and center announcing a medical service. Likewise, health care providers and payers are playing with new, innovative ideas to better and more clearly communicate with the patients in their care. Things are changing – there’s no doubt about it.

Among these changes, the answers to one question are being repeated at product development meetings, among the company’s trade fairs, and among ‘blue checks’ and unofficial Twitter accounts:

Has health care become a consumer business?

This question is more important than ever. And – to be fair – the answer remains as simple as the question is everywhere. And we want to know the answer.

In many ways – as professionals and patients who use the services provided by the medical industry – we need and want to know what we are working with. We want and need to know how to manage our very complex economy that requires more attention year after year. We want and need to know how to deal with organizations known as health care providers, insurers, and others. We want and need to know who we are – patients, consumers, or something else?

So, #HITSm, we ask you this question (and a few others) to spark debate, challenge the status quo, and advance creativity: Has health care become a consumer business?

Join us for this week’s #HITsm chat as we discuss these topics.
