PYMNTS - The ConnectedEconomy™ Monthly Report: Who's Who Of The Digital Social Scene - November 2022 - Find out how the digital revolution is changing the way consumers integrate social interaction into their daily activities.

47 million users in the United States chat online every day, using messaging apps, social networks, and dating apps to connect with friends, family and loved ones – and their numbers are growing fast.

This is the first of the events that PYMNTS unveiled in “ConnectedEconomy™ Monthly Report: Who’s Who of the Digital Social Scene Edition.” We surveyed a census-based group of 2,638 US consumers between Sept. 10 and Sept. 24, 2022, as part of our ongoing research into how the digital transformation of the US economy is reshaping consumer behavior. We asked them about how they communicate online, the platforms they use, and how often they spend time with friends, family and loved ones to find out how they integrate online communication into their daily activities.

Our research findings include the following.

Many consumers have made online communication a part of their daily routine. About 47 million consumers, about 18% of the adult population, now connect with friends, family and loved ones online as part of their daily activities.

Men use the Internet to communicate 30% more than women do, but their motives for doing so are very different. Women go online mainly to socialize with friends and family on social media; men go online mainly to find dates.

High-income users are driving the growth of internet connectivity. Ninety million consumers who went online to connect with friends, family and loved ones in the last month of the year earn more than $100,000, including 57% of consumers who earn this amount.

This is just a demonstration of “ConnectedEconomy™ Monthly Report: Who’s Who of the Digital Social Scene Edition.”
