Bombay (ASB) boys Johan Dotiwala and Aryavir Pitti (BKC) beat Mumbai boys Johan Dotiwala and Aryavir Pitti (BKC) at the Dubai Chess Meet held at the World Trade Center in Dubai on Saturday, October 29.
About 70 participants from seven different countries competed for top honors in this chess match, including ten FIDE international chess players. Yohan and Aryavir Pitti both picked up the titles with 2.5 points from five games. categories ie Under 15 and Under 8.
Despite being in ninth grade, Johan is a dedicated player with a good work ethic who trains 3-4 hours daily under SMCA coach Durga Nagesh Guttula, but he balances his academics.
Eight-year-old Aryavir Pitti is an avid chess player and a very aggressive player on the board, while Aryavir is currently preparing for the Singapore Under-8 Chess Championship later this year.
In the same meet, compatriots Myra Sethi and Mayank Jain from Delhi also finished second.
