New Dazhou-SE Asia freight route via China-Laos Railway launched | So Good News

The train, which is bound for Vientiane – the capital of Laos, will travel through southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, Yunnan Province and northern Laos’ Luang Prabang en route, according to various Chinese media. The newly launched freight train service will help key local businesses expand their market reach in the Indo-China Peninsula and Southeast Asia, as well as speed up cargo collection from Sichuan and Chongqing.
A new international freight train service via the China-Laos Railway has become operational after a train carrying cargo containers left Dazhou City, located in southwest China’s Sichuan Province, recently. The new route is expected to reduce the transport time from Dazhou to Southeast Asian countries such as Myanmar, Malaysia and Thailand to three to four days.
Currently, 21 provinces and regions have introduced freight train services via the China-Laos Railway. The 1,000 km railway network, which has been in operation since 3 December 2021, connects Yunnan Kunming with Vientiane.
