Mumbai: The supply of Rail Neer Packaged Drinking Water (PDW) will be temporarily restricted at some sections and stations of the Central Railway in Mumbai and its nearby areas from today till November 15 due to breakdown of the manufacturing plant at Ambernath amid increased demand.
“Due to the sudden surge in demand for Rail Neer PDW due to the prevailing festive season and due to breakdown in production at RNP/Ambernath, it will not be possible to supply Rail Neer on the below routes/stations from October 29 to and with November 15,” a release from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) said.

List of areas where supply will be disrupted:

IN Mumbai Division: All Harbor line stations and on Central Railway Line- Beyond Kalyan up to Igatpuri/Lonavala section.

IN Solapur Division: Solapur, Daund and Ahmednagar.

The IRCTC further urged to issue necessary instructions to the concerned authorities of the division and the serving licensees of the above mentioned stations to make an alternative arrangement for the packaged drinking water supply.

This arrangement is of temporary nature and necessary information for restoration of supply of Rail Neer PDW will be communicated as soon as conditions normalize, the release added.

IRCTC launched Rail Neer, a branded packaged drinking water, for railway commuters back in 2003. Rail Neer is processed, purified and bottled at 14 factories across India as of now, producing 18.40 lakh bottles per day.
