Railway Christmas Market Mullingar takes place over four weekends | So Good News
Railway (Christmas) Market Mullingar, supported by Mullingar Chamber, takes place over four weekends from late November to mid-December this year.
The grand opening of the market is on Saturday 26 November at 11.00 (until 18.00), and it continues the next day, Sunday 27 November, at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Christmas Fairies, who first appeared at Fusion Fest in May and made a big impression, will appear at the Railway Christmas Market on Saturday 26 November at 11 a.m. They arrive with Santa Claus in a vintage car and cut the ribbon, and open the four weekend markets.
The charity on the weekend of 26 and 27 November is the Make a Wish Foundation. The visit to Santa and the Fairy is free, and people are invited to donate to charity, with all proceeds going to the foundation.
There will be a parade at 10.45am, from Expert Electrical to the Bandhall, led by the Mullingar Town Band with Santa and the Christmas Fairies.
The market also takes place on Saturday and Sunday 3 and 4 December; Saturday and Sunday 10 and 11 December; and Saturday and Sunday December 17 and 18. Saturday hours are 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday hours are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
There will be a huge range of stalls and entertainment including Christmas food and baked goods, Christmas crafts and handmade gifts, Christmas trees, plus music, singing and dancing.
Buy gifts for him, her, grandpa, grandpa, mom, dad, aunt, uncle, sister, brother, teacher and someone special.
Santa will be there, and in exchange for a donation to charity, he will have a little something to give his visitors.
“We’re looking to make this a real community event, so if you’d like to get involved in some capacity – selling, volunteering, performing – please don’t hesitate to contact [email protected] or via Mullingar Chamber,” said market organiser, Patricia Magee.
A performance area will allow musicians, singers, choirs and dancers to entertain throughout the four weekends and all proceeds will be donated to the weekend’s charity.
If any person or group or school would like to participate, the organizers would like to hear from them. “No pressure, just fun!” Patricia said.
The market takes place indoors and outdoors, and you can even buy your Christmas tree there, and enter a free Christmas lottery (this offer is also available on Facebook and Instagram).
The Railway Christmas Market is part of WinterFest and is supported by Mullingar Chamber.
The Railway (Christmas) Market Mullingar supports a number of charities: Make a Wish Foundation 26/27 November; North Westmeath Hospice 3/4 December; Temporary Emergency Accommodation Midlands (TEAM) 10/11 December; and St Vincent de Paul 17/18. December. Once again, all donations to Santa will go to the above charities.
The market takes place at the Bandhall (N91YY96), Zone A, Mullingar Business Park – next to the rail tunnel, and up the road from Expert Electrical.
