Roop Narayan Sunkar takes over as the new GM of East Coast Railway | So Good News

Bhubaneswar, November 7: Roop Narayan Sunkar, an Indian Railway Service of Engineering (IRSE) officer of 1985 batch has joined East Coast Railway (ECoR) as General Manager.
Prior to the new posting, Shri Srivastava was working as Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) of South East Central Railway (SECR) at Bilaspur. He also worked as Chief Project Director (CPD)/Bridge Work in West Central Railway, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM)/ Ratlam, Chief Bridge Engineer in North Central Railway & West Central Railway, Chief Engineer (Construction) at Bilaspur.
After completing his engineering degree from Barkatullah University, Bhopal, Sunkar has joined Indian Railways in 1985. He has extensive experience in project construction and commissioning.
During 2020-21, 228 km of railway projects were commissioned which includes new line and doubling and 3rd Line which is the highest progress among all zonal railways of Indian Railways. Apart from this, construction and maintenance of assets like bridge work and execution of other projects by adopting a proactive approach has been praised from all quarters.
Sunkar is a highly committed and dedicated officer with brilliant knowledge and command of bridge work, always willing to take on extra responsibility. He is also a highly motivating officer who demonstrates exceptional leadership skills and earns loyalty.
Apart from his degree in BTech along with extensive knowledge in construction and maintenance of infrastructure and assets, Sunkar has completed his LLB from Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur in 2005, Post Graduate Diploma in Environment and Sustainable Development and also holds Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi.
