Comcast-owned media and entertainment company Sky has opened a new innovation center at its Osterley site in West London. Sky said the new addition “broadens and deepens our commitment to powering the UK’s cultural economy and technology sector”.

The site was officially launched by UK Government Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Michelle Donelan and Sky Group CEO Dana Strong. Strong said: “Sky is part of Britain’s thriving cultural economy. Our new innovation center demonstrates our commitment to UK technology and talent like never before.”

Sky’s Osterley headquarters are home to more than 8,000 staff, including the Sky News and Sky Sports studios. The new Innovation Center is home to 600 technology engineers, software and application developers who will create the next generation of Sky technologies and platforms.

Sky also opened an art studio complex in Borehamwood last year called Sky Studios Elstree. It is also interested in expanding the capacity at this site, starting with proposals to increase the number of stages from 13 to 23.
