JAMMU, Nov 23: J&K’s Soham Kamotra won the gold medal in the Commonwealth Chess Championship under 18 category organized at the 5-star hotel Citrus Waskaduwa in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dinesh Gunavaradena attended the award distribution function as the chief guest along with other dignitaries. The Prime Minister also gave a gala dinner to the winners.
All J&K Chess Association President Atul Kumar Gupta congratulated him on his arrival from Sri Lanka along with FIDE arbiter Bindu Patania and coach Vivek Bharti. “Soham Kamotra’s performance will lift the spirits of other youth of the Union Territory.
This is Soham’s second international medal this year. Earlier, he won the bronze medal in the Asia Under-18.
