Southern Railway awards Rs 49 Cr tender for redevelopment of Kanniyakumari station

Southern Railway has awarded work tender for redevelopment of Kanniyakumari railway station at a cost of Rs 49.36 crore and issued a letter of acceptance.

The station will offer airport-like experience for passengers with futuristic infrastructure and facilities, Southern Railway said in a press release.

The revamped station will have world-class facilities that promise to meet the demands of the next 40 more

60 years, seamless movement of passengers at separate arrival and departure corridors, aesthetically designed stations with facade lighting arrangement, good lighting and landscaping, dedicated parking lots for streamlined movement of different categories of vehicles and pedestrians in exclusive lanes and multi-level parking lots where possible, among other.

The Southern Railway has also conducted a feasibility study for preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Kumbakonam, TirunelveliJn (2 in Tamil Nadu), Chengannur and Thrissur (2 in Kerala).
