In 2022, the European senior team chess championship (age categories 50+ and 65+) continues in Dresden, Germany.

After four games, Slovakia and England are tied 50-1 and have 8 match points for first place in the 50+ division. Slovakia, led by Ljubomir Ftaknik, comfortably beat Osterreich 3.5-0.5 yesterday, while England 50-1 narrowly beat Berlin 1 2.5-1.5. The leading duo is followed by 5 teams with 6 match points: Berlin 1, Germany, Berlin 2, Bielefeld and England 50-2.

With a narrow 65-1 win over England in Round 4, Germany won their fourth in 3 straight and maintained sole lead in the 65+ division with 8 match points. Sweden 1, Cercle d’Echecs de Strasbourg and Finland are next with 65 7 match points.

The fifth round sees England 50-1 face Slovakia, while Germany take on 3 Cercle d’Echecs de Strasbourg, bringing exciting matchups between the leaders of the 50+ division. Round 5 pairings for both divisions can be found here.
