Ujjain railway station has been awarded ‘Eat Right Station’ certification by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India which gives five stars which will be valid for one year. This certification is given to those stations where safe and nutritious food is served to passengers.

Railway Public Relations Officer Khemraj Meena said that Ujjain station in Western Railway Ratlam Division has been given ‘Eat Right Station’ certification by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). It will be valid until 15 November 2024.

The ‘Eat Right Station’ certification by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India is awarded to stations that set standards for providing safe and nutritious food to passengers. ‘Eat Right’ is a campaign by the Government of India to transform the country’s food system by ensuring safe and healthy food for all Indians.

At Ujjain station also various parameters for ‘Eat Right Station’ certification like platform, station premises, cleanliness and hygiene of various stalls, no use of disposable plastic, no use of paper for food items, food items Ingredients used for preparation like spices, salt etc. should be labelled, expiry dates should be written on all foodstuffs, use of hand gloves by suppliers and their police verification, facilities for clean drinking water, dry and wet bins were examined.

Based on the report of the investigating officers, Ujjain railway station has been awarded this certificate by FSSAI.
