On Friday, a mock exercise simulating real-time relief and rescue operations was organized at Simhachalam railway station.
Two coaches of 06410 special derailed at Simhachalam yard and rescue operations were carried out with men and material. The mock exercise was conducted on a real-time basis, under the guidance of Senior Divisional Safety Officer Praveen Bhati.
Various departments, Mechanical, Transport and Carriage, Operations, Commercial, Medical, Safety, Signal and Telecom, Civil Engineering, Traction Distribution, Electrical and Personnel, took up the situation to rescue the passengers of the affected buses, carry out relief operations and restore the normality of the track for fast movement of traffic. Divisional Railway Manager Anup Satpathy checked the alertness of the staff and preparedness of various departments.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) led by Probin Phukhan, Team Commander, the Fire Department led by Assistant District Fire Officer V. Subba Rao, and the civil administration participated in the exercise.
ADRM (Operations) Manoj Kumar Sahoo and other departmental officers participated in the mock exercise.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anup Satpathy said that the mock exercise was an exercise to check the readiness of railway personnel to meet needs and rescue passengers with simultaneous relief operations. This exercise also makes it possible to develop communication skills and coordination between different departments.
The DRM appreciated the support of the local administration to make the exercise successful.
