PEOPLE are being urged to look closer to home for their next stay and stay at six holiday cottages next to a historic railway in Hampshire.

The self-catering cabins were built next to the Watercress Line 10 years ago and Hannah Povey took over as manager in 2020.

The cabins are located on land owned by the Graham family, who also own the campground, and were built in 2013.

Hampshire Chronicle:

The cabins, which sleep up to six people over two floors, were built to look like railway cabins using the distinctive colors of the adjacent steam railway.

Visitors to the railway at Alresford will have seen the cabins while queuing for the miniature railway.

Hannah said: “I took over the running of the cabins and campsite in 2020 and I’ve absolutely loved it.

“It is such a privilege to be in such a prime location, right next to the Watercress Line and to be able to see historic trains pass by every day.

“Being in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, we pride ourselves on our stunning views and beautiful local walks. There really is so much to see and do in the area, it’s the perfect place for a family holiday!”

Hannah encouraged people to book, and even consider visiting in the winter.

She said that in January they are offering a 10 per cent discount and there are spectacular illuminations on the Watercress Line with the Steam Illuminations event which runs until January 7.

The Watercress Line covers 10 miles of Hampshire countryside, adjacent to the South Downs National Park, running from Alton to Alresford.
