MANILA— Francesca Largo of Biñan, Misamis Oriental shared a point in the 7th and final round to clinch the semi-final crown of the Philippine National Women’s Chess Championship at the Chess Academy of the Philippines. PACE) headquarters at Mindanao Avenue, Quezon City on Sunday, October 30, 2022.

Organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) in close cooperation with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), this tough 7-round tournament ended with five wins and two draws.

And Largo took second place with 5.5 points.
Female National Master April Joy Claros of Angeles City, Pampanga and Ayana Nicole Usman of Santa Rosa City, Laguna are third and fourth with 5.0 points, while Female National Master Bea Mendoza of Bauio City, Female National Master Vic Gleesen Derotas Cebu and Kate Nicole. Ordizo of Pangasinan moved from fifth to seventh with 4.5 points.

Female Fide Master Allani Jia G. Doroy Agusan del Norte, Taguig City Female Fide Master Cherry Ann Mejia, Angeles Female National Master Lexi Grace Hernandez, Pampanga, Santa Rosa Female National Master Kaye Lalain Regidor, Laguna and Female National Master Antonella Mandaluyong City Berte Rakasa finished eighth out of twelfth with a score of 4.0.

Meanwhile, Joseph Mendoza II of Tigaon, Camarines Sur was crowned champion in the 8th NCFP FIDE Ranked Chess Tournament.
Mendoza (5.5 points) leads by half a point, followed by Arena International Master Francis Talabok of Quezon City with 5.0 points.

National Master Jasper Faeldonia of Manila, Jericho Santiago of Mariveles, Linus Garrett Ho of Bataan, Quezon City and Phil Martin Casiguran of Caloocan City finished 3rd to 6th with 4.5 points.

Tournament Director Grandmaster Jason O. Gonzalez, Fide Senior Instructor and Philippine National Chess Federation Chairman/President Prospero “Butch” Arreza Pichai Jr.-Marlon Bernardino officiated.
